Cookie Policy

1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how FreightVIS uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and within the FreightVIS application (together, the "Sites"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

FreightVIS uses only strictly necessary cookies and a cookieless analytics tool. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. Because we set no non-essential cookies, no cookie consent banner is required.

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make digital services work and to work more efficiently. We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage. In this policy, we refer to these collectively as "cookies".

Cookies may be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by a provider we use), and may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (which remain until they expire or are deleted).

3. Why we use cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • keep you signed in and keep your account secure;
  • protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other abuse;
  • remember your settings and preferences (such as your light/dark theme); and
  • understand, on an aggregated basis, how the Sites are used so we can maintain and improve them.

We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

4. Categories of cookies we use

4.1 Strictly necessary

Required for the Sites to function and to provide services you request, such as authentication, session management, and security (including CSRF protection). These cannot be switched off in our systems, and the Sites will not work properly without them.

4.2 Functional / preference

Remember choices you make — such as your theme and table sorting preferences — to provide enhanced, personalised features. These are stored in your browser's local storage rather than transmitted to us.

4.3 Analytics / performance

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how the Sites are used. Vercel Analytics is cookieless, collects only aggregated and anonymised statistics, and does not track individual users across sites.

4.4 Marketing / advertising

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.

5. Cookies and technologies we use

  • Authentication / session (first-party, Supabase) — strictly necessary; keeps you signed in. Session and short-lived persistent cookies.
  • CSRF token (first-party) — strictly necessary; protects against cross-site request forgery. Session.
  • Theme & display preferences (first-party, browser local storage) — functional; remembers your settings. Persistent until cleared.
  • Vercel Analytics (Vercel) — analytics; cookieless, aggregated usage measurement only.

6. Your choices and how to manage cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage through their settings. Because the cookies we set are strictly necessary, blocking them will prevent you from signing in and using core features of the Service. Our analytics is cookieless and aggregated, so there is nothing to opt out of for tracking purposes.

7. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no consistent industry standard for responding to these signals. Because we do not set tracking cookies and our analytics is cookieless and aggregated, we do not track individuals to respond to in the first place.

8. Cookies and personal information

Some strictly necessary cookies relate to your authenticated account. Where a cookie relates to information that identifies you, that information is also handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. The "Last updated" date above indicates when this policy was last revised.
